Full moons symbolize an energetic peak and a point of release. The energy of this moon will be intense as it comes with the partial (penumbral) lunar eclipse, so it will be like a full moon on steroids. At a lunar eclipse, the shadow of the earth falls across the face of the moon bringing unconscious feelings to the surface, grounding them in reality. Lunar eclipses are culminations of emotional cycles that have run their course, and they encourage us to let go of emotions and attachments that are no longer serving us.
This event will be complemented by a near square from both the sun and moon to combative Mars and dreamy Neptune, bringing both passion and sensitivity. There is also a conjunction right now between the sun and Venus, which will hopefully bring in some lightness and optimism to the pervading heaviness in the air. This moon is likely to feel more harmonious to fire and air signs and challenging for earth and water signs. It might also revisit themes from the last new moon in Sagittarius in November 2019.
Sagittarius is a mutable, masculine fire sign, ruled by Jupiter, the planet of joy, positivity and expansion, and governs the ninth house, which represents higher learning, spiritual understanding and personal philosophy. It is symbolized by the archer, horse or centaur and associated with the ‘Temperance’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’ cards in the Tarot along with the suit of Wands/Rods/Spring.
Sagittarian energy is freedom-loving. It is explorative, adventurous and metaphysical. It is about higher perspectives, wisdom, travel, wandering broader terrains in order to seek out the best targets. It is also a very spiritual sign of the zodiac, though having a very assertive quality. It is associated with the solar plexus chakra, and weaknesses are often found in the digestive and rheumatic system, whilst erogenous zones include the hips and thighs.
The energy of this moon might feel aggressive and conflicting with its position in a fire sign and the strong influence from the planetary squares with Mars. It will likely confront old, toxic and outdated modes of thinking and inflict necessary change for a lot of people. Whilst this process may not be easy, and the eclipse will force us to face our collective shadows, it will encourage us to rise. We will see a bird’s eye view of what might be going on at ground level, leading to the disclosure of truth and stimulating learning, growth and unity.
Yasmind Boland’s Moonology card for the Full Moon in Saggitarius states “Look at the bigger picture.” Don’t get caught up in the minutiae of life and take a higher perspective now. This can help us fo see our current situation differently and more positively. Even if we don’t have exactly what we want it can be helpful to count our blessings at this time. A time to embrace the uncertainty of life and take a few risks. Keep an open mind and the universe might surprise you. A situation may have happened due to distraction. Find a balanced sense of confidence and between speaking your mind and saying too much. Show that you care where and when it’s needed.
The Moonology card for a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse says “conclusions are in reach.” A door may be shutting or something is about to reach it’s peak. It is likely to be irreversible. If it already has it is out of your hands now. Your soul signed up for this, so let things unfold. If you need to let go of something or someone, it may feel hard but it’s the right time. Forgiveness will help to release karma and set you free. It may also be a time to work with your ‘shadow self.’ There is a positive turnaround nigh and you may be shunted towards your life’s purpose. Turn away from the past and realise everything is happening for your highest good. Things may feel uncomfortable, but life is evolving. Whatever is meant for you will not pass you by.
What mental or emotional viruses do you still need to purge to enter this summer eclipse cycle? What do you need to explore and discover more? What targets do you need to focus on? What needs more effort? And what seeks more truth? Personally, globally and spiritually.
Magickal aides and associations for this moon include the colours red, orange, yellow, purple and light blue, the sacral chakra, blue topaz, lapis lazuli, turquoise, bloodstone, ruby, the southerly direction, breath work, yoga, meditation, the outdoors and open spaces, the numbers 3 and 9, geranium, bergamot and neroli oils, the birch tree, carnations, dandelion and narcissus, grapefruit, strawberries, basil, saffron, the goddess Athena, the god Zeus and the Archangel Raguel.
Wishing you an auspicious time to purge old, toxic paradigms that no longer serve us, see things from a higher vantage point, temper ourselves and adopt the wisdom to use a broad terrain to discern what we should be targeting now for collective healing.
Amen, Blessings and Namaste
